A Letter from the Woodbine Campus Pastor Candidate

Joy and I are humbled and thrilled at the possibility of serving as your next Campus and Teaching Pastor. I come to you today knowing that God is building His church. He truly is on the move. However, God raises up pastors to serve and shepherd His bride until his return. That is a calling that I hold in the highest regard.

I promise to fulfill the office of pastor with prayer, desperate dependence on God, and a clarity of conviction that we are called to “engage the whole person with the whole gospel of Jesus Christ anywhere, anytime, with anybody.” I have watched God do some amazing things through the Church at Woodbine over the years, and it is easy to see that the best days of God’s church are still to come!

The scripture that comes to mind for this season is Psalm 107:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.” At the end of the day, may that scripture be the cry of our church’s heart. All for his love, His faithfulness, His glory…forever!

From the Woodbine Pastor Search Team

From the beginning of this search, the team sought God’s will and direction through prayer. Two things were paramount to us: to find the man whose heart God has called to the Woodbine community, and to be unified in our decision. We found this unity and are honored to present Hunter Melton to you as our candidate.

Hunter is no stranger to Brentwood Baptist, as he is the Groups Minister at the Church at Avenue South. He is an exceptional leader with a strong connection with people and prioritizes the Gospel above all else. His sermons are compelling and marked by a commitment to deepening one’s relationship with God. Hunter emerged early as a candidate who deeply shares our vision and commitment to Woodbine.

Over two months, the search team conducted several interviews with him. We asked him questions about theology, leadership style, and personal life to ensure he was the perfect candidate for the campus. Discerning his vision for a campus relaunch was critical to this process; in fact, we believe in Hunter’s ability to unite and engage others, positioning the campus well for many years to come—engaging the whole person with the whole gospel of Jesus Christ anywhere, anytime, with anybody.

We are excited to present him to you as our candidate, and we pray that the Lord unifies our church as we discern our next steps.
