"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I will learn." —Benjamin Franklin
This quote truly sums up the educator Hollis Shaner strive to be. It is her goal to encourage creativity, fun, vigor, and the love of learning in every classroom. She believes that the classroom should be safe, nurturing, attractive, organized, functional, and inclusive—considerate of all types of learners. During her twenty-five plus years of teaching and encouraging children, Hollis has started and managed multiple programs aimed at enriching the lives of children. She is excited about partnering with parents to give their children the best early education experience possible.
In August of 2015, her family trekked across the country from sunny California to Nashville, where they serve and minister to individuals recovering from addictions and homelessness at Set Free Church and the neighboring communities. She has been married to her best friend, Tim, for 15 years, and they have four magnificent children.
She loves setting goals, planning with spreadsheets and charts, organized travel, writing poems or short stories on rainy days, learning from her kids, long talk-walks, tennis, exercise, sleep/watching movies, studying history in antique shops, and singing and dancing (in her mind) down aisles of office supplies, crafts, and fabrics.
